Corporate Responsibility
Corporate leaders must act together to represent common global interests. Social responsibility is
the thread that binds. At Adjmi Apparel this belief is woven into every garment. Together we want
to expose customers to relevant social facts, and encourage them to make choices that help sustain
our planet. At Adjmi Apparel corporate responsibility prevails; we are taking action toward
sustainability not because we have to but because it is the right thing to do. We believe that by
getting involved we can create positive social improvements worldwide.
In an ongoing effort to sustain our planet Adjmi Apparel has:
- Converted all lights to compact fluorescent bulbs.
- Switched all copy paper to 100% post–consumer recycled/processed chlorine free.
- Programmed all computer monitors to “sleep” after 20 minutes of nonuse.
- Donated old computers, monitors, scanners, and printers to a non-profit organization that
reconditions or recycles the equipment properly.
- Sponsored an Earth Day contest with prizes to promote awareness and participation.
- Collected old cell phones and inkjet cartridges for an organization that recycles, and
donates 30% of their earnings to Cure, an organization dealing with children with cancer.
- Printed our employee handbook on 100% post-consumer recycled paper processed
chlorine-free with non-toxic ink.
- Committed to using companies who offer carbon credits like Silverjet.
- Programmed all copiers for double-sided printing.
- Initiated recycling programs for cardboard, paper, bottles, and cans at our warehouse,
showrooms and administrative facilities.
- Ordered a bamboo plant for each employee as a gift to promote awareness in recognition
of WED (World Environment Day) on June 5.
- Installed a filter system that provides pure water, and eliminates the need for bottle deliveries.
- Donated surplus fabrics to non-profit organizations that teach the elderly and public school children how to
make quilts. These quilts are then donated to low income families, children in hospitals, and Katrina victims.
- Provided steel cutlery and glass plates for employee use. We will not purchase the 85,000 plastic forks,
knives and spoons we ordered last year.
- Given a ceramic coffee mug printed with soy ink, and a water bottle to all employees.
We will not purchase the 67,000 coffee cups and 40,000 plastic cups we ordered last year.
- Taken measures to reduce hangtag size on internal brands.
- Given our overseas vendors specific packaging requirements to ensure efficiency by conserving space,
therefore reducing energy waste.
- Audited all shipments to ensure that packaging materials are kept to our minimum requirements.
- Committed to contribute to 1% for the Planet on sustainable programs.
- Ensured that people making our products will be treated with dignity and respect, in an environment
that is safe and healthy both internationally and at home.
- Committed to researching and developing ways in which to use recycled and more sustainable fabrics.
